Telnet is an application protocol used to access command-line interface operating system. This is commonly used by system and network administrator to remote switches, routers and servers.
By default, telnet client is not enabled on Windows 7. To enable, go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features
Click Turn Windows features on or off
Check the Telnet Client and click OK.
To use telnet, open cmd and type telnet and the IP address of switch, router or server.
Press Enter and you will ask to type the password.
